Making Travel Plans in 2020

Published by Jason on

With the way 2020 has gone so far, making travel plans in 2020 seems like it may lead to more disappointment as many plans will likely fall through, however, I’m happy to be making new ones again. Yes, everything originally planned for in 2020 was either postponed or canceled, but perhaps these new plans will come through!

First, a taster trip, going over to spend a couple of nights in Cannon Beach at The Courtyard (adults-only bed and breakfast) with my partner, Jackie. I’m fairly confident in the success of making this trip happen. One, it’s only a drive that’ll take a couple of hours in an area that has been successful to visit by us in the last month. Two, it’ll take place from a Sunday to Tuesday, so I’m hoping we’ll avoid the crowds! I’m really looking forward to this getaway since we’re both able to work remote these days, so it’ll be nice to have a spot that isn’t the living room to do some work!

The second trip that’s in the works is taking the Amtrak train from Portland to Whitefish, MT with a couple of friends in early November. This seems likely to happen since it’s travel within the USA and we’ll have our own roomette (small sleeper car). We considered taking seats cause it is half the price, but everyone would have to wear a mask for the 12-hour train ride. No thanks! Sleeper car it is!

Even though my confidence is high with these trips being successful, because it is 2020, I have to prepare myself for disappointment. All the travels above are refundable, so until something else changes, I’m going forward with planning for success. I want to get back to being optimistic about what is to come!

Check back here in the next month or two to see if either of these trips were able to happen! I’m setting the intention today to share some highlights of the trips above!

Normally I’d have a pretty packed schedule for plans through the end of the year but it seems ideal to just plan a couple at a time. Here’s hoping that things get back to normal soon for getting around!

If you’ve started making travel plans of your own, I’d love to hear about it! Please share in the comments below!
