10 Wonderful Restaurants in Sayulita

Published by Jason on

Sayulita, Mexico is no longer a secret or unknown destination, so I want to share some of my favorite, most wonderful restaurants that I have enjoyed in the town. Sayulita is a small town on the Pacific coast of Mexico. Sayulita was first discovered by surfers, who discovered the uncrowded waves and rustic, laid-back Mexican vibe. The town has developed tremendously over the years, making it even more attractive to tourists. Though there are many wonderful restaurants in Sayulita, but these are ten that I really like and think you would, too.

Wonderful Restaurants in Sayulita

Recently, Sayulita has become a foodie’s paradise. The restaurants are abundant and the food is diverse, just like the town itself. There are many restaurants that serve traditional Mexican food, as well as international dishes. Though there are a lot of restaurants in Sayulita these days, these are some of the most wonderful restaurants in Sayulita that I hit every time I go to and think you should, too!

Tierra Viva Restaurant y Bar (great breakfast and lunch)

Breakfast and lunch are some of the most important meals of the day. So, it is important to find the best meals that you enjoy. Tierra Viva in Sayulita, Mexico is a wonderful place to enjoy breakfast or lunch. They offer a variety of breakfast choices, like eggs, french toast, pancakes, waffles, and cereal. They also offer several lunch options, such as meat, fish, shrimp, chicken, or vegetables.

Atico Breakfast Cafe & Bar (best shrimp burgers)

Once you taste the shrimp burgers at Atico in Sayulita, you will never go back. The burgers are made from fresh shrimp that are grilled to perfection, served on top of fresh garlic aioli, and topped with lettuce and tomato. The burgers are accompanied by french fries, guacamole, and salsa.

Tropical House (excellent food and drinks)

Tropical House in Sayulita offers some of the best food and drinks in the area. The environment, décor and the super friendly wait staff make Tropical House an excellent place to enjoy a family meal. At one point, they also had their own tequila that you could buy by the bottle! Another plus, if you get to know them as we did, they might make you a special birthday cake and help you celebrate!

El Itacate (fried cheese tortillas are banging)

El Itacate in Sayulita, Mexico, has some of the best-fried cheese tortillas around. This surprising claim is based on a combination of factors: the consistency of the cheese curd, the speed at which the curds are fried, and the placement of it in the pan. All the factors combine to give the cheese a silky, melt-in-your-mouth texture. After picking apart the cheese curd, the texture and flavor are the first things you notice. The fried cheese is placed in hot corn oil. The heat of the oil helps the cheese melt faster. You definitely don’t want to miss this one!

La Rustica (excellent pizza)

La Rustica is a pizzeria in the town of Sayulita, on the Riviera Nayarit, in Mexico. In my opinion, the pizza at La Rustica is the best pizza I have eaten in town. The pizza is thin, crispy, and practically melts in your mouth! The pizza at La Rustica is even better than the pizza in Italy that I ate many years ago. All of La Rustica’s pizzas are made with fresh, quality ingredients, and are baked in a wood-burning oven. Also, La Rustica is easy to find and not far from the beach and also has great cocktails!

Tacos Al Pastor Tal Ivan or Tacos De Pastor Diaz (best al pastor tacos)

Some of the best tacos in Sayulita are from Tacos Al Pastor Tal Ivan, or right nearby, Tacos De Pastor Diaz. Tacos Al Pastor Tal Ivan and Tacos De Pastor Diaz serve traditional al pastor tacos with pineapple, onions, cilantro, and limes. The meat is sliced thinly and marinated in a secret ingredient. There are some other al pastor taco places in Sayulita, but these two right next to one another are the best! Especially great after a night out on the town, they stay open late!

ChocoBanana (great breakfast with an optional frozen treat)

ChocoBanana in Sayulita is an ideal place to enjoy a great breakfast, with a wide variety of foods, café drinks and smoothies. With an extensive menu, a variety of hot and cold beverages, and the option to add on a frozen banana and chocolate snack, ChocoBanana in Sayulita is a great place to start your day in paradise. They don’t serve alcoholic beverages so this makes for a great family place.

Selina The Garden (tasty healthier meal options)

Selina The Garden in Sayulita has a fresh menu of healthy choices to satiate your hunger and boost your energy. In addition, their pastry chef and chocolatier, Enrique, has a variety of delicacies that you can indulge in during your stay.

Selina offers healthier meal options than a typical restaurant. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner with meals starting at $8 and $10, respectively. (They offer brunch on the weekends.) The food is prepared fresh on-site and carries a global flare. The Garden’s menu features a wide variety of mouth-watering dishes that can satisfy even discerning diners, and again, great craft cocktails!

La Terrazola (good dinner on/by the beach)

La Terrazola is great for dinner on or nearby the beach. This is a restaurant serving authentic Mexican cuisine. It’s located in Sayulita, on the main road across from the Sayulita surf stand. The restaurant offers a wonderful view of the ocean and the sunset, with live music playing in the background.

YamBak (great local brewery)

YamBak Brewery is the first of its kind in Sayulita. Owners Daniel and Tracey Swick-Varner wanted to start brewing their own beer for the beautiful location they call home. They chose Sayulita because of the scenery and the laid-back vibe it offers. YamBak Brewery offers many kinds of beers, and they are all delicious. They also have music events that you can listen to while dancing in the street and eating delicious Al Pastor tacos!

Bottom Line

One of the best things about Sayulita is the restaurant scene. Though I’ve listed a number of the most wonderful restaurants in Sayulita, in my opinion, there are so many others that will suit everyone’s palette! If you can’t get into one of the places above, I’m sure the place next door will provide you with great food and a tasty margarita! Every year there are new wonderful restaurants in Sayulita that have popped up in Sayulita, so, don’t be afraid to try out new places and go on your own.
