El Salvador: First Country Visited

Published by Jason on

The first country I ever visited outside of the USA was El Salvador.  I came to El Salvador when I was sixteen on a mission trip for two weeks.  I spent most of my time with my face painted as a clown.  Drank out of plastic bags and ate a number of ham and cheese sandwiches.  Took baths using buckets of water, performed theater for families, and helped lay the foundation for a new building at a nearby orphanage.  Many mudslides in the area with tons of traffic.  Saw four lanes of traffic with markets on both sides of the road in the busier parts.  Right of way determined by whoever honks first.  Quite the experience and definitely made me want to see more of this crazy world.
