I’m about to board my flight from Singapore to Bali and it hits me that I’m soon leaving Asia.
I’ve been in Asia since October 1st, and departing Indonesia December 8th to Perth Australia.
Of all the parts of SE Asia I’ve been, Singapore has most reflected the western world. Buildings are huge and prices are high. A beer in most restaurants is around $10. Compare that to $3 average for the same beer in the rest of SE Asia.
My time in Singapore was short, but I’m glad to get to Indonesia to save a little more money before Australia.
I started at a newly renovated hostel, Mori Hostel, in Little India. This place was great for the price ($16) compared to the rest of Singapore. It also included a basic breakfast. The guys who run the joint are outgoing travelers themselves. They gave me some great pointers on what to see while in Singapore.
Glad I stayed at the place as it was a good center point to the city.
I went to a few different parts of town. Haji Lane which was full of shops selling goods and a few temples. Then over to Chinatown which has even more shops and some Hindu temple grounds. Quite the site.
I finished up by going to Orchard Road which was a huge shopping mall with very expensive stores from around the world. The cool thing about this place was the display of Christmas lights ask over the streets.
Overall, I had a good time here, but I’m glad to go.
Well, I’m now at the airport to fly to Indonesia. Here I go!
